ABOUT

Hi! I'm Jillian, and I'm a graphic designer, illustrator, and fine artist. I hold a BFA with a concentration in graphic design from Salisbury University, and Master's in Graphic and Experience Design from NC State University. While at NC State, I wore a few different hats: I worked as virtual reality studio attendant at the library on campus, leading me to collaborate on developing an interactive kiosk with another librarian fellow. I also became an instructor for middle and high school workshops, creating hands-on projects for students to explore design principles and the convergence of different design disciplines. I was a teaching assistant for undergraduate studio classes, and was a research assistant exploring how VR can be used to enhance feelings of closeness and social engagement. All of that to say, I knew what I wanted to pursue in my own practice...which is everything.

 

I believe in being as versatile as one can in the realm of art and design, so my portfolio reflects that desire to explore and fine tune every tool in my designer toolbox. While going through my studies and working various design posts, I've realized a few things: that artists and designers don't work in a vacuum, that inspiration and precedence can come from other areas of design and beyond, and the ability to be well-rounded is the foundation of my practice.
